During module manufacturing, solar cell arrays are embedded in plastic film sheets, mainly ethyl vinyl acetate (EVA), and encased between a glass plate on the front side and a weather-resistant plastic back sheet on the rear, usually made of polyvinyl fluoride (PVF).
Alternatively, for some special applications the rear side may also consist of a glass plate. The complete sandwich is then baked in a laminator under high pressure at a temperature of around 150°C. The crucial point here is to heat and press the entire module uniformly and rapidly to reach an ideal cross-linking degree within the EVA foil for stable, long-term module function.
